my mom got a lap harp a couple years ago and it came with sheets on how to play it and it was kind of fun but i was horrible at it. #howtoplay

  • #howtoplay My dad dug out my mom’s old clarinet, and she showed me how to play it. (I had never played it before.) I learned that it sounds really pretty, but it is very hard to play. You have to take large breaths, and even then it may not work. You push buttons to change the notes, but it just did not sound right when I tried. I have a…[Read more]

my older sister showed me how to play a few notes on the guitar, it was super fun and i would like to learn more about:)

  • I learned how to play the mandolin and if you are right handed you hold your left hand on the neck and your right strums picks or plucks the strings while your left hand holds them down on the frets to create different chords. It is really fun and I would like to get into it more. #howtoplay

I chose to learn how to play the violin. My sister @jumper339 showed me how. The violin is played by putting your left hand on the “neck” of the violin, and holding the bow in your right hand. Then, you put your fingers on the strings for the note that you want and pull the bow along the strings of the violin. The violin has 4…[Read more]

I tried to play my friend’s guitar at her house. And I guess it was good but, it was really fun to make a fool out of myself(:

It is my lifelong passion of singing. U may think that singing is not an instrument, but it most certainly is. First, like any instrument, you have to sit up straight with good posture, second mouth shape is very important. Your vocal cords are like guitar strings that are plucked at each frequency you sing! Third, quality singing is a…[Read more]

    • This is great, and I certainly agree that the voice is an instrument, but the challenge is to try something you’ve never played before. I’m guessing you’ve used your voice before now. ;) See if you can go to a music store or a friend’s house and write about trying a brand new instrument.

      • Ya, I have used my voice before, but I’m always learning new tricks and tips! Being a dwarf, its kind of hard to find instruments I can actually lift and play! I’ll try though.

        • While I recognize that you probably meet many challenges, there are tons of smaller instruments. :) Check out wind instruments or maybe a violin. One person wrote about the nose flute…

My mom taught me how to play the recorder . I’ve learned A, B, C, D, and G. It’s really fun! You play by placing your fingertips over the holes depending on which note your playing and than you softly breath out. I love playing and can’t wait to learn more notes.

I learned how to play guitar. The tricks for remembering the string names are: Elephants And Dogs Got Big Ears. After about a week, I quit though, because i couldn’t read the notes on sheet music, and I couldn’t place my hand in the right position in time. :)

Today I just started to play guitar and it was really fun. I am definetly not the best player but it was worth try. It is my moms guitar and she is going to give me hers when she is going to get a new one so hopefully I can get better. Right now I can play the violin so this will be my second instrument. In the future I hope I can…[Read more]

My friend owns a violin and she has a class at school learning and working on the violin. So I asked her if I could come over and try out her instrument and she agreed. She taught me how to play each string (5 strings in all) and how hold it in my hand. You take your left hand (it’s right handed instrument) and hold the top of the…[Read more]

My friend from band let me borrow one of her flutes for a bit (she has like 3) and I didn’t work to well haha. I can get all the fingerings matched with the notes in the music perfectly, but the problem was trying to blow the air out in the right posistion. It took a long time, but after a bit I was able to get it slightly better. …[Read more]

The instrument i chose was the ukulele. You play it like a guitar but it has two less strings. You strum and chuck it. Chucking it is when you tap on the strings. I thought it was awesome. :)

I went to my friend’s house and tried to play his saxophone. It was really hard to play on the reed for me because I play the trumpet and am used to brass instruments. I made a couple noises but i couldn’t play a song or anything.

So my brother tried to show me how to play a few chords on the guitar. I found out that I am horrible at it. And it’s a lot harder than it looks. Lol.

I went to a friend’s house and learned to play the harp. You play by holding a hand on either side and plucking the strings with your fingers (not your fingernails!). The harp is one of my favorite instruments.

    • Cool! I play the harp too.

    • Ok Codyrose, you seem to like posting negative comments on what instruments people play, let’s hear about what you play… This isn’t a place for putting people down, but if you have some reasons why the cello sucks or harps are too classical, tell us why.’

Also, if you think harp is too classical, you haven’t really looked into the wide…[Read more]

  • #howtoplay I learnt to play a new instrument called the harmonium. It’s a classical instrument but it’s not very common. It’s like a piano but much smaller. It’s easy to play. Play notes on the keyboard using your stronger hand while pumping the bellows with your weaker hand. It takes some time to make your fingers flow fluently across the…[Read more]
