I looked up “Spring Snow,” a piece of art found in Puyallup. It’s a bronze sculpture of an owl. Actually, the artist (Ross Matteson) modeled the piece after his pet owl as a child. His website provided an amazing step by step guide on how he made this work of art. I learned a lot! Here’s the link: …[Read more]

I did something a little different, the art I’ve chosen for this doesn’t have an artist. I researched why some of the crosswalks in downtown Sumner are decorative. I found that the city of Sumner put them in along with a bunch of other stuff, to slow down speeders. That and I’m pretty sure they’re tile so less painting them in…[Read more]

I saw a piece of art at Seattle Children’s hospital. Siblings of kids at the hospital reused things like buttons, shrink wrap etc. to make ”bugs”. These bugs were put along a wire and strung up for decoration near the door.

I saw a piece of art art an art store. Here is the description:
A 12″ by 12″ piece of dark brown leather was divided into four sections
by white thread. A brown, square piece of wood was in the upper right
hand corner of the leather. A long piece of the…[Read more]

So Sumner yearbook staff had a conference at The Inn in Gig Harbor (We got our cover done! It looks amazing!) and while we were there we had some extra time so Mercedes went around and read all the plaques, under the twenty or so pictures they had, aloud. It was cool to see how some, especially those that were from say the 1920′s,…[Read more]

”The Family”, a sculpture at Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium, was built to go along with a time capsule that was made in 1976 and is supposed to be opened in 2076. It is a sculpture of a mother, father, and a child.

  • #publicart There are some really cool pieces of art in downtown Portland OR. My favorites are these welded together bikes, there are several of them around downtown. I did some research and based on what I found the inspiration for them came from the many bikers that populate Portland. So not only is it cool art but it give moral to those who…[Read more]

One cool piece of art I saw that was made locally was located at the Tacoma Art Museum. It is called the ”Crystaline Clear Venetian with Clear Coil” I think it looked pretty cool. But I tried to avoid getting too close because it looks like it could easily fall.

  • #publicart This art piece can show how creative our minds can get. it could be random stuff made intoo a sculpture or feelings made into a painting
